Lisianthus

Because of popular demand, this year several varieties of Lisianthus are available for local orders.  These are small plants in plug (cell) format and ready to be planted in your garden.  Transplant immediately into pots or directly in the garden. Keep the soil moist until their roots take hold, then they enjoy it more on the drier side. They are very slow growing.  Lisianthus typically produce one big full flower stem, but if you cut that stem reasonably deep, they will slowly put out a later second flush of smaller stems.  You can also pinch the main stem when it is several inches tall and has three sets of leaves  just above the leaf node. This encourages the plant to send out side shoots resulting in more stems.  Very long lasting as a cut flower.
