Astrantia (also called Masterwort or Hattie's Pincushion) are in the same family as carrots and have very similar leaves. These dainty flowers come out in abundance in the late Spring and bloom for many weeks. An extremely hardy perennial (zones 4 and up) it matures at three years and each year after produces more and more stems 24" - 30" tall. Half sun and half shade is what it likes best with moist soil so don't let it dry out. Intricate in design, they resemble fireworks and make a great, very long lasting cut flower.
