Astrantia (also called Masterwort or Hattie's Pincushion) are in the same family as carrots and have very similar leaves. These dainty flowers come out in abundance in the late Spring and bloom for many weeks. An extremely hardy perennial (zones 4 and up) it matures at three years and each year after produces more and more stems of 24" - 30" tall. Will tolerate part shade. Likes moist soil so don't let it dry out. Intricate in design, they resemble fireworks and are a great, long lasting cut flower.
